I heard this interview today while driving… had me crying… :)

nprfreshair:

Dan Savage, on his own experiences growing up as a gay teenager: [full interview on Fresh Air here“The bullied straight kid goes home to a shoulder to cry on and support and can talk freely about his experience at school and why he’s being bullied. I couldn’t go home and open up to my parents. I did think about suicide briefly — not because the bullying had gotten so bad, but because I thought that it would be the good Catholic-son thing to do for my parents.”

About two weeks ago my Jetta reached its 100k mile! I had been anticipating this epic milestone, but came so close to missing it. I realized that I had reached 100k while driving on the freeway and speaking with my mom on the phone.

Yes, I slowed down to 29mph ON THE FREEWAY in order to take this picture.

For quite some time now, I’ve felt the tug to share my thoughts and experiences thru a blog, but today is the day where that tug becomes a reality. This is not because I enjoy writing (it takes me forever!), or because I believe my life is a “must read.” Instead, it’s because there is so much to think about and even more to share.

The older I get, the harder it becomes to remember things in my life and that is unfortunate. Can you remember every affirming and kind word anyone has ever told you? I can’t. Have you forgotten a time where you had some great laughs or felt overwhelming fear? Me too. How about a random conversation, question, or quote that caused you to think, I mean really think, about your life and where it’s heading? Yup, me too!

I hope this blog deal helps me not forget as much stuff because I would like to look back at my life and see how much God has blessed me.

Although I can, and probably should, keep a journal for myself, I decided to blog and share the random and not so random things in my life with you because we can learn a lot from each other.

We all have something to bring to the table, so I hope you’re able to find some interest in my thoughts and/or experiences.

Oh, it’s fine if you don’t like my thoughts and experiences because its NONYABUSINESS anyway ;-)
